Carol unity in diversity

‘CAROLS in the Park’ festivities bring people from all cultural and religious backgrounds together to celebrate Christmas and the holiday season.
This year’s carols will be held on 11 December and opened by Hot FM’s Hamish and Gabi.
Councillors Yve Stocks and Rod Kelly will perform hosting duties this year on behalf of Southern Downs Regional Council.
The program will include all the classic traditional carols as well as favourite up-beat Christmas songs. Council welcomes back crowd favourites Erin Hilton and Band, Emma Bell, Warwick Choral Society and the Warwick City Band.
Newcomers The Fern Brothers, Felicity Hughes, Aliyah Enosa, Aimee Liesegang and Kristy Searson are also welcomed, and together will create an event that showcases the amazing talent here on the Southern Downs.
Of course, there would be no ‘Carols in the Park’ without our guest of honour, Santa Claus, who will drop in for a visit as he finalises plans for his busiest time of the year – drawn by reindeer, of course.
Warwick Rotary Club will be sponsoring a Children’s Christmas dress-up competition, with great prizes up for grabs.
Families will be able to grab a bite to eat from the gourmet food stalls including Gino’s wood fired pizzas, twisted potatoes and Dutch poffertjes.
There will also be mobile coffee vans, an ice cream van, Warwick Lions barbecue, Rotary hot chips and fairy floss, and a German sausage van.
Southern Downs Portfolio Councillor for Events, Sport and Recreation, Yve Stocks is excited to have new sponsors TAFE Queensland South West and Spano’s Supa IGA come on board to join returning sponsors Southern Downs Auto, Warwick Credit Union and WIRAC YMCA.
“Sponsorship from these businesses guarantees a professionally staged Carols program – it demonstrates a strong commitment to this community by our sponsors,” Cr Stocks said.
Warwick’s ‘Carols in the Park’ is an unforgettable night for the kids.
All residents and visitors are welcome to come along on Sunday, 11 December, BYO picnic blanket or chair and settle in the beautiful surrounds of Leslie Park to share the spirit of Christmas in our town.
Let’s celebrate Christmas as a community. Join us on 11 December 2016 at the Rotunda, Leslie Park, Palmerin Street, Warwick, for a special night of entertainment from 5pm.
