Jury hears allegations in child indecency trial

THE trial of a man accused of indecent treatment of a child under 16 began on Monday 24 October, in the Warwick District Court.
The Crown Prosecutor has alleged a 46-year-old man sexually interfered with the female complainant, aged 15 at the time, at a residence at Clifton in January 2015.
The jury of eight men and four women sworn in shortly after 10am heard the defendant was alleged to have entered the home of the girl on the morning in question while her mother was at work, after the two exchanged Facebook messages.
He is alleged to have indecently interfered with the girl while she was showering and that the girl had repeatedly told him to stop and to leave the residence.
The court heard that the defendant and the complainant had been known to each other before the alleged offending, and that the girl contacted relatives and police on the morning of the incident and made a formal complaint to police on that day.
The accused man pleaded not guilty at the start of the trial.
