Connolly Dam camping

CAMPING at Warwick’s Connolly Dam could soon be an option for those who love the outdoors.
The council at its September meeting approved a plan to open up several parcels of the site for camping and has asked officers to prepare a business plan to be reviewed at the October meeting.
It is expected that camping for longer than one night would be restricted to caravans and motor homes with their own toilet facilities, due to the limited facilities at the dam.
Other campers would be restricted to one night. There are two basic male and female toilet blocks at the dam.
In other council news, changes are on the way for the Southern Downs Regional Council’s depots and workshop in Stanthorpe.
The council at its monthly meeting on Wednesday 28 September voted to relocate the Parks and Gardens and Wastewater Operations from the Short Street depot to the MacKenzie Street Depot and to put the Short Street Depot site up for sale.
Workshop changes will see the daily transfer of one of the Stanthorpe-based mechanics to the Warwick workshop ceased and the transfer be made on an “as needs” basis.
The recommendation adopted states a system to “assess workload on a weekly basis will be introduced” and Warwick staff will be sent to Stanthorpe “when required”.
A four-week roster for the Stanthorpe workshop will be “reinstated” and “the split shift ranging from 6am to 6pm” will be abolished.
