Keeping fit for free

SOUTHERN Downs Regional Council is excited to offer the Get Out, Get Active Southern Downs – Women and Girls Doing It for Themselves 10-week health and fitness program in the region, which will run from 4 October to 11 December.
The Get Out, Get Active program supports women and girls of all ages from ‘teenagers to seniors’, 15 years and over to be active for life, and aims to increase and enhance their sport and active recreation opportunities.
Southern Downs Mayor Tracy Dobie said the GOGA Southern Downs team was committed to inspiring and supporting women and girls in the areas of health and fitness.
“The GOGA program is a fantastic opportunity to showcase activities and health and fitness organisations in our region,” Cr Dobie said.
“Participants will be able to enjoy free activities including yoga, Pilates, mind and body strength workshops, cooking demonstrations, various fitness and exercise classes, local ParkFit equipment, walks and cycling tracks.
“There are some really great incentives for women and girls to register and to continue through the 10-week program as well.
“So, don’t delay, register today to be part of this special program.”
The first 300 women or girls to register across the region, who are not currently active members in any other fitness or gym program, will receive a program passport, and bag with giveaways and information.
Participants who reach the five and 10-week program milestones will go into a draw to win a range of prizes.
