GOOD fun, good mates, play football – it’s that simple when it comes to the Warwick Football Association’s Summer 6s competition.
With the “official” football season now over, senior and junior players who are keen to kick on into the warmer months and keep up their skills and fitness – while enjoying plenty of friendly competition – can do so by signing up for the Summer 6s.
Summer6s is one of Football Queensland’s off season participation activities. It’s a social football format played on smaller fields. Teams are six-a-side with unlimited interchange during the match; each match consists of two equal periods of 15 minutes, with a brief half-time interval for teams to change ends. A maximum of 10 players can register for any one team, from juniors (8-10, 11-13 and 14 to 16) and seniors 17 and above.
Truly “Football for Everyone”, this program is perfect for current players who want to keep active over the summer, those who have played, but don’t have time to dedicate to a full winter season or individuals who just want to have some fun with friends. It’s also a great opportunity for new participants to begin playing football in a fun and social setting.
Warwick’s Summer 6s will be played at the WDFA grounds at Queens Park on Tuesday nights from Tuesday 11 October to Tuesday 6 December. Juniors will kick off at 4.30pm and seniors at 6.30pm. There will be a muster at the grounds on Tuesday 4 October from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. The cost is only $40 for juniors and $50 for seniors.
Register through www.myfootballclub.com.au – registrations close on Saturday 8 October. Payment mjust be at time of registration online by debit or credit card. To nominate a team register individually then team captain email wdfasummer6s@gmail.com with team name, players’ full names and FFA number of each player.
