Drug offenders charged

A busy week for Stanthorpe police.

POLICE executed a number of search warrants on premises in the Stanthorpe area last Tuesday resulting in the location of drugs and the charging of a number of persons.
A 32-year-old woman from Sawmill Road at The Summit was charged with possessing a dangerous drug after a quantity of amphetamines were located at the address.
A 39-year-old man from Dalcouth Road faces two charges after failing to properly dispose of a used syringe and also unlawfully using a controlled substance.
A search warrant on premises in Tennant Road, The Summit resulted in the location of a quantity of cannabis and smoking utensils resulting in the 35-year-old male resident being charged accordingly.
A warrant executed at Margetts Street, Wallangarra, resulted in the location of an ‘ice’ pipe and other drug paraphernalia. Two persons at the address are expected to be charged with drug offences.
Another address, also in Margetts Street, was searched with a quantity of cannabis and smoking utensils being located. A 22-year-old male was drug diverted as a result.
At around noon on Saturday, police intercepted a sedan in Pierpoint Street, Stanthorpe, with the 39-year-old driver testing positive to drugs and being subsequently charged with drug driving.

Disturbance outside hotel
POLICE were forced to intervene in a disturbance outside the Central Hotel at about 12.45am on Sunday. A 47-year-old man had been evicted from the hotel by security staff but returned a short time later and became violent necessitating police to produce a taser. At this time the offender resisted and was arrested by police for committing a public nuisance offence.
At 2.30am police again attended outside the Central Hotel in relation to a disturbance, giving a move-on direction to a 23-year-old male. The man returned to the area a short time later and was charged by police with disobeying the move-on direction given earlier. He was in the process of being transported to a nearby address when police observed another male kicking over a rubbish bin in the street resulting in the 23-year-old being issued with a $365 ticket for public nuisance.
