STANTHORPE police have reported a number of break-and-enter and stealing offences in the past week with one person arrested and further incidents being investigated.
Stanthorpe police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Mark Ireland said the incidents had involved houses and vehicles.
“An address in Greenup Street was unlawfully entered on the night of the 4 July while the occupant was asleep,” he said.
“The offender knocked over an item causing it to smash and as a result decamped from the premises empty handed.
“The following night at about 10pm, a vehicle parked at an address in Day Street was forcibly entered and a laptop computer stolen from within.
“Sometime last Wednesday two cabins at the Blue Topaz Caravan Park were unlawfully entered and assorted property stolen.”
He said police subsequently executed a search warrant at the Happy Apple Resort, locating some of the stolen property and charging a 28-year-old male resident with five charges including permitting a place to be used for the administration of drugs, break and enter, receiving tainted property, possessing tainted property and failing to dispose of a syringe.
However they are still investigating another incident that occurred over the weekend Snr Sgt Ireland said.
“Sometime after midnight on Saturday evening, an offender attempted to force open a window of a premises in College Road,” he said.
“After removing the flyscreen the offender was unable to access the house and left. On Sunday afternoon while the resident was absent for a short time, unknown persons gained entry through a window to a residence in Bridge Street and stole a blue and yellow Merida brand mountain bike.”

Drug offences
FIVE people have been charged with drug offences over the past week in the Stanthorpe area.
Senior Sergeant Mark Ireland said a number of persons and residences were searched over the week.
“A search of a vehicle on Siviter Road, Cottonvalel on Monday afternoon revealed drug paraphernalia,” he said.
“A 27-year-old male tourist was offered and accepted drug diversion for the offence. Another vehicle intercepted in Railway Street early Thursday morning led to the location of a quantity of cannabis, the 51-year-old Stanthorpe man also accepting drug diversion.
“A quantity of cannabis and implements were located in a vehicle intercepted on Friday morning at Dalveen, again the offender, a 17-year-old Brisbane man taking the opportunity of drug diversion offered by police.
“The driver of a heavy vehicle was intercepted at Dalveen on Friday afternoon, the 34-year-old driver being found in possession of cannabis and a pipe and subsequently charged with the offences.
“On Sunday morning the driver of a vehicle stopped at Cottonvale was found to be in possession of a quantity of powder believed to be methylamphetamine and a pipe. The 45-year-old woman, from Maryborough, was subsequently charged.”
