May the fourth be with you!

Students I am your reader!!Marlea Fischer (as Darth Vader) reads to the Storm Troopers, Ella Maxwell, Tyron Cruise and Ryan Tolton. Robbie and Joey Brown behind giant Storm Troopers.

MANY first learned of Star Wars Day from former teacher David Wilson, himself a Star Wars fanatic; however students of Warwick’s West School will be launched into a galaxy of sci-fi fun when they embrace the worldwide celebration on May the Fourth.
The library will be transformed into a reading realm that promotes Star Wars books and encourages students to get involved in planned Star Wars activities.
School librarian Sue Higgins and her staff will dress as Star Wars characters to set the vibe and will oversee a number of activities to fire up the students’ thirst for Star Wars knowledge.
“It’s all about connecting kids with reading and keeping the fun factor in learning,” Ms Higgins said.
She is excited to have local businesses, Warwick Holden and Big W, on board the school’s mission by lending life-size Star Wars cutouts and other promotional material.
“We have a number of events that students and teachers are eagerly anticipating including a Search the Galaxy treasure hunt.”
“Similar to ‘Where’s Wally’, students will search to find Star Wars characters around the library and solve the code. We are encouraging the children to record themselves talking like Darth Vader and teachers Ms Gimm and Ms Nolan will be the quiz masters at the So You Think You Know Star Wars lunchtime quiz.”
Ms Higgins is intrigued by “Yodaisms” so has come up with a What Yoda Says competition for the thinkers. She is particularly looking forward to children constructing their own Yodaisms about her passion, libraries and books.
May the 4th has become a popular tradition each year, with fans online and offline proclaiming it “Star Wars Day.” Six live-action movies of the Star Wars saga debuted in May and the month includes George Lucas’ birthday (May 14, 1944).
The date, chosen for the pun on the catchphrase “May the force be with you” (May the fourth be with you), kicks off a global celebration for fans.
